It feels like home, what with all the nautical themes around. Hotwire.com I love you!</p> <p>Day two had us scooting down 101 to 46 where James Dean snuffed it ‘mongst the almond groves. The only memorial we noticed was local gas station and nut vendor’s giant James, pointing to your best choice for jalapeño pistachios and petrol.</p> <p>Lots and lots of oversized paintings in the area, largely to promote the agricultural businesses in the Bakersfield area. Most of them are very nicely done and some are downright impressive. Wish we had more time to share them all with you.</p> <p>We ended the day at the Pasadena Hilton (overrated) and yummy Yucatan chow at neighboring El Portal.
